Be The Change (BTC) has been serving the Hong Kong community under its society status since 2020. Founded by two compassionate and enthusiastic individuals – Leesha Khemlani and Naresh Gangaramani the organisation has been growing from strength to strength under the helm of President Poonam Mehta. Ably supported by the executive committee, well-wishers and donors.

In 2020 it was registered as charity under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance in Hong Kong.

BTC offers assistance to low-income families in Hong Kong by focusing on ethnic minorities. We offer our support with love, dedication, enthusiasm, compassion, integrity and a spirit of cooperation.

Be The Change over the past 11 years with the help of our core members and supporters have helped those in need to build a better future. Often their work involves teaching students one to one, providing school uniforms and miscellaneous fees, guiding families and individuals with a view of hope and change towards a better life.
Some of our students have enrolled in universities, some are in high school and some are employed in Hong Kong. In addition, we offer extra-curriculum activities to students, visit families and liaise with schools.

Blessing in Giving – J.R. Darsi

Charity means sharing what you have earned lawfully and ethically with others. Charity is praised as one of the greatest virtues in Hindu Dharma.1 If you are helping a charity that is based in the local community you are offering your time and services to the greater good of your community. Doing so helps build a stronger community and a better world!. Charity work is not without benefits to those contributing, there is a blessing in giving. Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to. Deuteronomy 15:10.2 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” LK 6: 38.3 In addition to the joy of helping others, some of the money you donate to charity is tax-deductible.
